DESCRIPTION

SCE FCU is looking for a detail-oriented, self-starter to join the Human Resources team. The ideal candidatedelivers exceptional internal service, works in a deadline-driven environment with attention to detail, and contributes to team fun!

The HR Associate provides professional support to one or more functional areas of Human Resources. Supports the HR department in administrative functions that include, personnel records management, onboarding new hires, and other administrative tasks. Assists with team member communications such as pre-employment screening, responding to routine questions on HR policies and procedures, identifying potential issues and grievances, etc. Gathers information and prepares reports as necessary. Exposure to sensitive and/or highly confidential information is a normal part of the day-to-day experience.

A hybrid remote work option is available for this position. Some functions of the role must be performed onsite in Irwindale, CA. Working full-time onsite will be required while in training and the new hire orientation period.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Support

  • Provides administrative support as assigned such as distributing mail received in the office, preparing correspondence, maintaining/updating the phone directory and organizational chart, etc.
  • Audits payroll reports against personnel records and paperwork pertaining to transfers, changes in job classifications, and increases. Ensures changes affecting payroll have proper documentation and approvals. May assist with preparing and following up with necessary documentation.
  • Assists with monthly reconciliation of HR and Training Department budget, HR Clearing account, and Activities Committee account, maintains HR intranet site, logo apparel, and business card orders.
  • Responds to employment verification requests.
  • Orders disaster recovery and emergency supplies and maintains usable unexpired inventory.
  • Assists in new hire on-boarding activities including running backgrounds, conducting new hire orientation as needed. Processes new hire NMLS backgrounds and assists team members through the process. Assists with offboarding documentation and paperwork.

Records and Reports

  • Compiles files and maintains personnel records. Files employment records. Researches and provides information to authorized individuals. Scans documents into electronic records platform and indexes them accordingly.
  • Prepares internal and external reports including but not limited to team member of the month nominations, overtime and meal premiums data, and other reports as requested.
  • Audits payroll changes and recurring payroll deductions against insurance billings and other personnel records.
  • Compiles data from personnel records and prepares statistical and analytical reports.

Activity and Event Planning

  • Supports and contributes to team member activities and events (e.g. recognition activities, holiday celebrations, annual meetings or banquets, etc).
  • Assists with coordinating recognition activities such as anniversaries, Team Member of the Month, etc. Compiles reports from recognition channels.
  • Tracks anniversary award inventory and distributes service tenure gifts as an aspect of the organizations recognition program.
  • Serves as the main contact for scheduling of the organization's main assembly/meeting room. Manages room reservations and addresses scheduling conflicts. May assist other team members with arrangements for room setup and clean-up as necessary.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma required
  • Two to three years related experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of HR functions and practices
  • Knowledge of employment law and HR responsibilities preferred

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before small groups of team members of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems and Internet software; and be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with Paycom a plus.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position.
