The Opportunity

Marvell IPBU software team works on unified SDK that provides complete software platform for development on OCTEON processors. Base SDK is available with generic, and customer-specific extensions such as DPDK, VPP, and ODP.

Marvell's OCTEON Arm 64-bit DPUs combine up to 36 cores with configurable and programmable hardware accelerator blocks that supports up to 200 GB data paths.

Up to 36 custom designed 64-bit Armv8 cores ranging up to 2.4 GHz frequency
Enhanced security co-processors with DPI capability which accelerate a comprehensive set of asymmetric and symmetric cryptographic operations
Up to 5 x 100G integrated MACs, up to 56 x 25G SerDes, and DDR4 3200MTS support
Rich I/O interfaces supporting PCIe 4.0 root-complex and end point configurations thereby enabling full SOC virtualization
Innovative load-balancing and work scheduling hardware for QoS, packet ordering and synchronization

Job Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design and develop system software for reliable, scalable, high performing network and storage systems using C/C++.

  • Develop new features and enhance existing features for Data-plane/Fast-path software Toolkits by designing data structures and algorithms tailored for Marvell MIPS/ARM based CPU, coprocessors and hardware-based accelerators.

  • Integrate open-source/customer software with Data-plane/Fast-path Toolkits to deliver software solutions to customer products. Develop Crypto and IPsec security software (protocol and applications) optimized for Marvell Crypto/IPsec Accelerators.

  • Develop software and troubleshoot issues related to hardware bring-up, multi-threaded software development with virtualized hardware.

  • Analyze and investigate methods to enhance software performance on Marvell SoC by eliminating bottle-necks using existing hardware and simulators and suggest future hardware/software design improvements.

  • Work with Technical Marketing engineers (TME), product managers and cross functional hardware/software engineers to understand and solve customer issues.

  • Plan, schedule, estimate efforts for projects and provide technical guidance to junior engineers during execution.

  • Work on ARM based storage/Networking products, design and develop firmware and software for Storage and networking products


  • BS / MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and 5-10 years of related professional experience with:
  • Networking systems.
  • Storage systems
  • C/C++
  • Linux Kernel Driver Development
  • ARM based CPU's
  • Crypto / IPSec Accelerators
  • Hardware bring-up on ARM, jtag
  • PCIE protocol familiarity
  • DPDK, VPP is a plus
