The ERP Development Operations team is looking for an expert in release engineering and development operations who is passionate, innovative, and has strong leadership skills to lead a development operations team. Seeking a senior director ready for a new challenge in a fast-paced environment who have a proven track record for seeking out and implementing imaginative and strategic, yet practical, solutions with a customer first mindset.

The Release Engineering team strives to increase the velocity of innovation to our cloud services and ensure overall developer productivity. To be successful in this role:

  • You have experience in development, testing and systems automation.
  • You have experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery principles in the domain of cloud-based web applications.
  • You are a firm believer in pipeline-as-code.
  • You are passionate about end to end automation of all aspects of the delivery pipeline.
Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and help drive cross-team software engineering efforts to build systems and services that improve operational efficiency, increase velocity of product delivery, and drive reliability, scale and performance.
  • Shape the processes, platform, and tools used to drive software and configuration changes from the developer desktop to production.
  • Participate in the creation and improvement of processes, patterns and practices for incident response, postmortem/root cause analysis, end-to-end repair item definition, fixes in production. This includes both customer and internal communication throughout the entire process.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the software delivery pipeline with a focus on Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and 100% automation of the build, validation and delivery of our cloud services.
  • Perform profiling and troubleshooting of current solutions, identify the root cause of problems, and corrective and preventative actions required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BS/MS (MS preferred) in Computer Science or related field and minimum of 10 years of software development experience, with demonstrated knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, configuration management practices, build and release processes, continuous deployment, and test suite development and maintenance.
    • Detailed understanding of source code management concepts and direct experience with a modern source code control system (e.g. git).
    • Strong understanding of "modern" DevOps solutions on the cloud including Continuous Integration and Delivery pipelines and CI/CD best practices.
    • Experience with CI release engineering tools e.g. Jenkins/Hudson, Maven/Gradle, and monitoring e.g. Prometheus, and Grafana.
    • Troubleshooting skills across network, application, caching, queuing, load-balancing, storage and distributed services layers.
    • Experience designing and implementing solutions for platform and application layer telemetry, monitoring, scalability, performance and reliability.
  • 7+ years of previous people management experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical content to both technical and non-technical peers, customers, and at times, executive leadership.
  • 2+ years practical experience deploying and running large scale online systems built on Cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and/or OpenStack
  • Experience with large-scale, Linux-based enterprise software including database and middle tier layers.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with Java, C#/C++ and SQL dialects, as well as JavaScript/TypeScript, and React; T-SQL?and PowerShell experience is a plus.
  • Strong scripting skills e.g. Groovy, Go, Python, Linux shell scripting, etc.

Hiring Range: from $142,900 to $338,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
