Your Role

As a Gensler SeniorDesigner in the Cities 2 studio, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with team leadership and client engagement skills to produce meaningful, functional, beautiful buildings and spaces that have positive social impact. You have exceptional design skills, an impressive background in both teaching and professional architecture, with a portfolio of innovative and inspiring projects. You will be an essential part of our growing higher education and civic/cultural practices in the northwest region. We also see you as an important contributor to our design culture in the San Francisco office.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the creative efforts of multiple design teams on projects from the initial marketing stages through design completion.

  • Ensure project success by remaining engaged and providing periodic design review during the documentation and construction administration phases.

  • Develop and own overall design concepts, storytelling and design presentation strategies.

  • Be a fearless integrator and advocate for diverse points of view and expansive thinking.

  • Drive alignment in our designs with our, and our clients', sustainability goals.

  • Build and sustain client relationships; act as the primary design advocate with clients, team members, and a wide range of consultants and collaborators, both internal and external.

  • Creatively align solutions to budgets.

  • Mentor and develop Gensler designers; provide creative direction to design teams.

  • Participate in business development, marketing and recruiting efforts.

  • Interact with clients while representing Gensler at meetings and presentations.

  • Be a voice in our Community for the Power of Design.

  • Push design innovation across the San Francisco practice, joining pinups and project crits, and mentoring junior and intermediate staff.

Your Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or higher in Architecture

  • At least 15years of experience as a Design leader in an Architecture firm and/or in Academia

  • Track-record of success with education, sciences, civic, and other mission-driven institutional projects

  • Adept at storytelling, engaging as a communicator and inspiring with an energetic personality

  • Passionate about empowering and nurturing creative teams and to lead by example.

  • Exceptional and innovative designer who sees every project with fresh eyes.

  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to be articulate and convincing in interviews and other presentation

  • Demonstrated experience developing and cultivating relationships with new and existing clients

  • Substantial experience working directly with senior management representatives, facilities and project managers, and other project stakeholders leading planning studies to achieve programmatic requirements

  • Leadership experience, including managing client expectations, multi-disciplinary teams, and meeting scope/schedule/budget

  • Advanced knowledge of the architectural planning and design process, code requirements and design of building systems such as structural and MEP systems.

  • Skilled at developing and motivating teams of people both internally and externally, along with a desire to mentor team members

  • Demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices required. Experience must include completed highly-sustainable projects.

  • Revit, SketchUp and Photoshop skills are a plus

**The base salary will be estimated between $135,000 - $170,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
