Snowflake's Product Data Science team is looking for a full-stack Principal Data Scientist to come aboard and support our Product Experiences team. This team is tasked with creating powerful and delightful features for developers, data scientists, business leaders, and other users engaging with our platforms every day. In this role, you will work closely with our Product and Engineering teams developing products like SQL Worksheets, Snowflake Notebooks, data engineering tools, and the user interfaces connecting them all together. You will advance long-running data science initiatives, develop and refine our technical capabilities, and act as a critical voice in product development. This is a strategic, high-impact role that will help shape the future of Snowflake products and services.

AS A FULL-STACK PRINCIPAL DATA SCIENTIST AT SNOWFLAKE YOU WILL:
  • Create data products that solve real business problems
  • Partner with our product and engineering teams to shape roadmaps, design metrics, and build analytical workflows to evaluate and drive product success and effectiveness
  • Influence and collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and executives to inform decision making with data and to identify opportunities to create more value for our customers.
  • Be an early adopter and power user of our features and products
  • Build scalable and shareable advanced analytics/ML/experimentation frameworks to uncover feature usage patterns, subtle issues with the system, potential performance enhancements, and areas to improve user experience
  • Communicate insights and best practices in leadership briefs, publications, and industry reports
  • Think creatively and resourcefully to find solutions to complex, often unstructured problems

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • MS/Ph.D. in quantitative discipline
  • 12+ years relevant experience
  • Significant experience working with SQL & Python including numpy, pandas, and visualization libraries
  • Experience developing code in a collaborative environment- able to comfortably use git and give thoughtful PR reviews
  • Expert data-driven storytelling skills to convey insights to business leaders and technical stakeholders and to drive impactful decisions, with an eye for great ways to visualize data
  • The ability to think critically about user behavior, work closely with product teams, and translate product questions into testable hypotheses
  • Familiarity with statistical testing or causal inference is a plus

Familiarity with data modeling tools like Airflow, UI layers like Streamlit, and Snowflake is a big plus

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $163,000 - $241,500.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a competitive package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; at least 12 paid holidays; paid time off; parental leave; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
