CTSI Employees
Collaboratively works with client sites to develop and implement policies, programs and/or research based on applied principles of physics in a clinical (radiation oncology) setting, with a primary focus on quality and efficiency of patient care.Performs or directs the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for clinical physics in multiple settings, including new customer centers, or revised SOPs for existing customer centers. Performs or directs the performance of quality assurance program reviews for both new and existing customer clinical sites, including performing data acquisition to ensure programmatic quality and completeness. Oversees and directs activities such as equipment calibration checks and radiation surveys. Actively contributes and support oversight to the development of policies, procedures and training activities required for conformance to regulatory and professional requirements particularly those related to patient safety. Additionally, performs remote physics services and/or provides short-term to extended on-site coverage as needed to support the ongoing improvement of these service lines.

The role will encompass client-site visits in addition to communication and mentoring of staff clinical physicists. Requires an advanced degree and extensive clinical experience in addition to Board Certification as a Medical Physicist (ABR, ABMP, or equivalent).

Duties/Responsibilities

- Up to 50% travel

- Reviews and creates procedures and policies of clinical sites for physics support to improve efficiencies and quality.

- Supports and leverages the software development team to create quality assurance tools to be utilized in physics coverage.

- Implements and maintains clinical best practices for various treatment modalities and techniques.

- Plan Reviews, Chart Checks, Dose Verification, Patient Specific Quality Assurance, etc.

- Daily, Monthly, and Annual Machine QA for LINACs, CT Simulators, etc.

- Special Procedures such as Brachytherapy, Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), etc.

- Position includes travel within the US and potentially some international travel.

- Other duties as assigned by Director of Physics Clinical Transition and Implementation.

- Follows and exemplifies the code of practice and policies in Physics Manual.

Qualifications

- Must be willing to travel up to 50%

- M.S. or PhD in Medical Physics, or closely related field, required.

- Minimum of 4 years post-graduate physics experience in a program of similar size with computerized treatment planning and comparable computerized simulator/accelerator required.

- Experience with a variety of clinical radiation oncology platforms such as: Linear Accelerators, Surface Guidance, EMR and R&V systems, HDR afterloaders, Treatment Planning Systems, ionchambers, electrometers, image analysis software

- Experience in data collection, multi-vendor dosimetry equipment, multiple TPS system modeling, SRS/SBRT, HDR and clinical validation of treatment delivery machines

- Computer system administration experience with patient record and verify database applications preferred.

- Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Medical Physics (ABR or ABMP) or other appropriate certifying body required

- Must apply for and maintain relevant State licensing and/or registration as required for working as a medical physicist at the clinical site and to do so in a timely manner. #LI-OS1

Position must have full access to Varian client sites to perform the essential functions of this position. Many clients require Varian employees and representatives to meet certain Vendor Credentialing requirements before they will be allowed to have access to their sites. Unless prohibited by law, position must meet all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to have full client access and must continue to meet those requirements during the course of employment in this position. These requirements vary by client and may include, but are not limited to: Proof of valid identification (photo, driver's license, SSN) Criminal background checks Drug screens Immunizations (COVID-19, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus) Annual TB testing Healthcare training

The base pay range for this position is

Min $153,100 - Max $275,800

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
