Summary

Build the platforms that support the delivery of experiences that empower advisors and help clients achieve their dreams. Work with a hardworking team of data engineers, designers, data scientists and financial experts to discover, build and launch features that enable clients to achieve financial security.

This role will support the implementation the enterprise operational data strategy and supporting data platform at NM. You will get the opportunity to operate strategically between data teams, architects, and platform engineers to deliver our target state data integration patterns, data transformation capabilities, privacy/security controls, and consumption in a modern data landscape.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set Product Vision : Responsible for product vision and appropriate positioning with key team members across the organization.

  • Develop Roadmap : Foster the development, acceptance and communication of roadmap.

  • Define and track critical metrics for measure of success.

  • Gather Requirements : Participate in cross functional work to solicit key requirements relative to the accountable product.

  • Define the product : Responsible for multiple medium complexity products and product features from start to finish.

  • Stakeholdering : Maintain the awareness and ability to articulate the product story to a broader audience outside the internal team with additional experience and maturity in the domain.

  • Data & Customer Research : Advise product decisions with both qualitative and quantitative data on behavior and experimentation.

  • Feature Prioritization : Develop and maintain multiple prioritized backlog of user stories for implementation according to business value or return on investment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical subject area.

  • 4-5 Years of prior experience with at least 4 working in a Product Management Role, with agile team experience.

  • At least 3 years of working on a data or analytics team.

  • A deep understanding of cloud-based data platform architectures.

  • Experience interacting with external suppliers.

  • Knowledge of cloud native architecture, cloud tooling and DevOps

  • Technical expertise spanning data engineering, data platforms and analytics.

  • Must have demonstrated cross functional work in previous experience along with strong communication skills, time management, project management skills, eye for business and high self-awareness/EQ.

  • Demonstrated previous research experience, influence skills, initial leadership exposure, ability to translate product requirements into technical requirements, and work in ambiguity and solutioning.

  • Solves complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions; exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

  • Knowledge Preferred: formal business analyst, engineering or testing experience, knowledge of the financial services industry, certification or experience with Product Owner or Scrum Master role, Certifications in Google, Azure Cloud, or AWS

Pay Range - Start:

$100,030.00

Pay Range - End:

$185,770.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
