The Opportunity:
The primary responsibility of the Application Engineer is to drive product development and adoption efforts in the semiconductor
vertical through self-directed customer accounts and mentoring of other Application and Field Engineers.
The position will be instrumental in driving new product adoption activities at Picarro's key customer sites.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Become an expert in our customer applications and use cases, especially understanding the customer requirements and the chemistries involved.
  • Guide the engineering team in adapting our existing products, and developing new products, to meet and exceed our customer expectations.
  • Become an expert user of Picarro's semiconductor products, developing an intuitive and deep understanding of Picarro's
  • technology, especially the CRDS instruments at the heart of our semiconductor product line.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Picarro's product offerings by optimizing the implementation of our technology in each application.
  • Champion the customer needs and work closely with R&D and marketing to develop competitive and creative technical solutions.
  • Create technical product collateral material for marketing, including application white papers and publications.
  • Be proactive as a customer advocate, looking for and solving problems before they surface.
  • Write plication notes and articles for internal and/or external publications.
  • Create and conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations for customers.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and continuously work on differentiating Picarro's solutions.
  • Mentor and support other Application and Field engineers.
  • Travel to customer sites all over the world to help drive adoption into new and existing applications (minimum 25%)
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience in the measurement and interpretation of gas phase concentration measurements using multiple measurement
  • technologies, including strong experimental skills in the preparation and sampling of gas samples and the calibration of analytical instrumentation.
  • Working experience in semiconductor fabs.
  • Proven ability to understand new technologies and new applications.
  • Expertise in the analysis and interpretation of time-series data is required.
  • Fluent in python, Matlab, R, or similar data analysis language desirable.
  • Knowledge of organic chemistry, especially the chemistry of semiconductor manufacturing, is a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and digest complex technical and application information and
  • distill it into simple, easy-to-understand information for sales, management, and non-expert end users.
Qualifications:
  • MS required, PhD preferred in Chemistry, Physics, Atmospheric Science, Engineering, and similar field, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites all over the world.
  • Ability to commute to the Picarro headquarters daily to conduct experimental work.
Salary Range & Benefits:
$100,000 - $170,000 Your base salary and title will be determined based on the location, experience, qualifications, skills, knowledge, level, and pay of employees in similar positions.
