New Patient Coordinator

Job Summary

The new patient coordinator will be responsible for answering phones, responding to inquiries, registering new patients in epic, collection of medical records and insurance documentation (if applicable) and any other required patient documentation. Communicates with clinics to ensure they are able to accommodate patient's request, communicates with clinic physicians on urgent International requests, submits payments to financial analyst for processing and meets with new patients to explain new patient process when it's an in-person inquiry. At times will need to schedule appointments, confirm and/ or re-schedule and cancel appointments for both new and existing patients. Provides guidance to patients on services provided by International Services. Follows all HIPPA guidelines and any other government agency requirements. Will handle additional administrative tasks within the department. Provide back-up to the international liaisons when needed.

Department Description

UCSF International Services assists hundreds of patients seeking care from countries outside the United States. Our patients come from 88 countries and our team of coordinators and financial analyst coordinate all aspects of a patient's visit from before the patient arrives to after they leave. We are looking for a talented team member to join international services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or four years of applicable experience.
  • Three or more years of administrative experience
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally
  • and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Attention to details and knowledge of HIPPA Laws
  • Patient-focused customer service cultural sensitivity
