Position Overview:

This is an ideal opportunity to join our Silicon Valley Technology Development Center focused on the development and launching of new technologies and products. This mechanical design engineering role will be helping to learn, grow, and apply expertise in high temperature bonding of ceramic materials. Our high temperature bonded semiconductor solutions will help create heated pedestals for deposition applications and heated electrostatic chucks (ESCs) for etch applications. Both dep and etch applications are critical and at the heart of the chamber for our world leading semiconductor customers.

About the Role

Watlow's Silicon Valley location works in close collaboration with our customers to help us move at a fast pace. Our objective is to develop robust process solutions and deploy differentiated high value solutions. This is a vital role to help ensure our tooling and our processes created are robust, repeatable, and reliable. Designs of experiments and problem solving is expected as well to help us learn and mature technologies. From day one, you will collaborate with team members while you learn how mechanical design will be applied to our products, tooling, and processes. Utilizing 3D modeling, your mechanical skill set will support process development and prototype builds. You will also have an opportunity to develop and grow your own experience from our industry experts. This will be a diverse role within a hands-on environment to gain experience to learn and apply knowledge of equipment, processes, tooling, product testing, and how they all fit together.

Key Responsibilities

  • 3D Modeling of tooling and products.
  • Partnering with engineers for continuous improvements.
  • Collaboration with New Product Development teams.
  • Collaboration across Watlow sites.
  • Building of prototypes.
  • Supporting other team members where applicable.
  • Conducting and Interpreting test processes and procedures.
  • Identification and implementation of designs of experiments
  • Interpreting customer needs to define specifications.
  • Preparing technical briefs and providing support documentation for products.
  • Developing products and processes that deliver innovative solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or a related degree.
  • Mechanical and CAD experience utilizing SolidWorks.
  • Semiconductor experience a plus
