Job Description

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Lead provides oversight for shift operations and scientific support for his/her discipline to ensure that the Laboratory consistently performs accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory testing. In support of organizational objectives and in collaboration with management, the CLS Lead ensures that Laboratory staff are scheduled and assigned to necessary workstations, that equipment is functional, that staff are reassigned as needed to meet turnaround times, and that Laboratory procedures are performed safely and to the required technical standards. The CLS Lead also ensures completion of staff competency assessments, provides input for staff performance evaluations, and assists with investigations of unsatisfactory work that may lead to disciplinary action. The CLS Lead maintains his/her own technical competencies and skills, and functions as a CLS working within the scope of practice described for CLS I and/or CLS II

Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in clinical laboratory science or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years CLS experience in an acute care hospital setting in the past 8 years.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license- California Department of Public Health - Laboratory Field Services

MT/MLS(ASCP) certification preferred

Salary Range:

$68.15 - $88.76 USD Hourly
