Base Pay Range: $83,800.00 - $142,500.00 Annually

Group/Division

The KLA Services team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The KLA Services organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Job Description

Continuous improvement of spares demand forecast process: Our business supports a wide range of spare parts profiles; from nuts and bolts to highly sophisticated optics/lasers/high precision mechanical devices/etc and from lumpy/sporadic demand patterns to consistent/smooth.

Below is what you will be doing to drive improvements to our parts forecasting processes:

Supervise our planning system's forecast accuracy, partner with others in the organization to drive forecast improvements accordingly:

  • Perform forecast accuracy analysis to identify common threads where system forecasting accuracy needs improvement
  • Diagnose system forecast accuracy issues, partner with our planning team on system override processes where appropriate to improve accuracy and/or mitigate risk
  • Based on the findings, partner with the system integration team to refine the system forecast algorithm as needed

Demand forecast analysis on critically important parts: Characterize our customer demand to uncover the key drivers of demand. Build forecasting plan:

  • Perform part survival analysis (Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and/or similar methods), apply survival regression models to predict future survivability
  • Analyze demand characteristics across the fleet that behave differently as to be partitioned in analysis (ex. different customers, products, contractual entitlements=, etc)
  • Review findings with the part planner / engineering to raise awareness about our products as well as validate assumptions prior to building forecast models
  • Build demand forecasts for critical parts by applying the aforementioned analysis to available forecasting tools
  • Assist in the development and refinement of forecasting tools in order to best leverage the insights uncovered through demand analysis

Support Monte Carlo simulation modelling efforts by sampling fleet demand based on a combination of demand forecast and historic data:

  • Help build a scalable approach to sample demands to be used in Monte Carlo simulations (designed to evaluate the logistics spend and customer experience based on our supply chain network design and plan investment)
  • The sampled demand would reflect the fleet demand characteristics based on historic data
Qualifications
  • Educational background in Data Science, Data Analytics, IT or related
  • Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Military or related industry experience required
  • Validated background in statistics and probability theory
  • Experience in conducting statistical analysis with a scripting language such as Python, R, MATLAB, SAS, etc.
  • Ability to quickly learn new/different languages/technologies/etc (including SQL)
  • Communicate technical information to management and non-technical business partners
  • Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and interconnect solutions
  • Experience with writing SQL a plus
  • Experience with Snowflake a plus
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc), experience with the Power BI / PowerPivot DAX language is a plus

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with +5 years' work experience, OR Master's degree with +3 years' work experience
