Position Description

DUBOSE ENTERTAINMENT
 
James DuBose, founder and CEO of DuBose Entertainment in Hollywood, California, has spent over 18 years in television production. DuBose is a prolific producer of reality programming and has served as executive producer for several television reality shows including “Tiny & Toya,” “Frankie and Neffe,” “Monica: Still Standing,” “Inside DTP” and has several other shows in various stages of development with artists, celebrities and sports figures.
 
JOB SUMMARY:

The Vice President will oversee the financial management of Dubose Entertainment Production Company. The VP, Finance will be primarily responsible for directing and managing the day-to-day financial activities of the original programming department including: accounting, control, reporting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, cash flow management and forecasting, financial modeling, and financial management systems.   This individual will oversee a proactive financial infrastructure and will ensure that all financial systems and controls reflect “best practices.”  The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the senior management team and will function as a business partner to the President of Dubose Entertainment in order to enhance the overall success and financial management of the business.
 
 
DUTIES AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Work closely with accounting and production executives to develop and manage long-range strategic plans, annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Support company by understanding business drivers for advertising and subscriber revenue and analysis of business operations and expenses
  • Assess the effectiveness of all financial operations for support of organizational strategies; as needed, establish new financial policies and procedures to best utilize organizational assets.
  • Present financial guidance and meaningful information for business decisions through financial analysis and application of strategic thinking; participate in the decision-making process for significant business initiatives.
  • Anticipate financial issues and provide clear resolutions to financial questions and issues; provide thought leadership and creative solutions to strategic and tactical problems.
  • Identify significant success/problem indicators to the senior management team and other members of the parent organization.
  • Manage the division’s short and long-term financial performance by developing accurate forecasts and projections, monitoring variances to plans and developing action plans to address issues.
  • Anticipate and address challenges that the division will face given ongoing changes in the industry.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial operations on a consistent basis to ensure objectives are met, results are achieved, policies adhered to.
  • Proactively establish and supervise the maintenance of internal accounting controls to ensure timely, accurate and reliable financial statements and reporting; establish, implement and enforce financial and reporting compliance standards.
  • Proactively review policies to ensure consistency with the company’s short and long term operating and business goals.
  • Work with discretion on detailed finance reports and budgets of a varied nature.
  • Provide general and specialized financial analysis and support.
  • Establish oneself as a trusted financial advisor and counselor.
  • Evaluate contracts as needed.
 
     
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
     
Our ideal candidate will have twelve (12) or more years of financial management experience.  S/he will have experience working within a business unit or division and can translate his/her financial expertise to the needs of the business.  Experience working in film, television, home entertainment, music or a similar business is KEY! Production Finance experience is ideal.
 
  • Extensive budgeting and strategic planning experience is key!
  • Understanding of production budgeting financials and analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to communicate well and be able to successfully work with a diverse group of senior operating and finance executives, each with individual operating styles, business strategies and goals, and unique issues.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
  • CPA, MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Microsoft Excel and/or Access, and extensive experience in various accounting and financial management software.
