We at CUNA Mutual are looking for a skilled Employee Benefits Sales Specialist.

Northwest Territory - CA, WA, or NV

Under the direction of the Sales Specialist Manager-Regions, this position is responsible for interfacing with accounts and ensures high quality and proactive support of the Sales Executives-Regions and Account Consultants in the sale and retention of Group Health, Dental, Life and Disability and other employee group benefits programs. This position provides technical sales insight and product value in the area of employee group benefits in order to address specific client needs in efforts to retain and grow business within assigned customer accounts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and supports the needs of Sales Executives-Regions and Account Consultants.

  • Provides technical sales insight/product value in the area of employee group benefits programs to address specific customer needs.

  • Assists in the pre-qualification, assessment, development and presentation of client specific proposals.

  • Serves as technical product or solution expert regarding employee group benefits programs for account team to identify product issues and solutions for both acquisition and retention of business.

  • Assists with the closing of sales around employee group benefits programs.

  • Interfaces with back office product leaders in the development of new products, as well as enhancements of existing products.

  • Understands the competitive environment for the credit union industry together with diverse financial services markets.

  • Represents the credit union to the carrier by negotiating rates and advocating the credit union to the carrier.

  • Fosters teamwork and culture that accepts and responds rapidly to change and is action oriented.

  • Maintains an understanding and relationship with organizations and associations that support the group benefit needs of Regions customers.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Insurance or related field or an equivalent trade-off of related professional work experience.

  • Three to five years of successful sales experience, including technical sales skills, preferably within the financial services industry.

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of financial services industry. In-depth knowledge of credit union industry preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Group Health, Dental, Life and Disability and other employee group benefits programs.

  • Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, relationship building, customer service skills.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Possess or obtain Life & Health License within 90 days.

  • Up to 50% travel required.
